Frequently Asked Questions

Please see below to answer any questions you may have for your sailing experience on the Liberty Clipper. Once you have all the information you need - just click the Book Now button below.

Q: Where do we board the boat?

A:

The Liberty Clipper boards guests from the Pier at Harborfront Park in Port Jefferson, NY. To find the boat on google maps just type in "Liberty Clipper" and it will locate the boarding location for you.

If you are in Port Jefferson and looking for the boat - we are about 0.22 miles to the right of the ferry terminal when you are facing the ocean. Just walk to the grassy park area and the boat is docked in front of there.

If you have found the Pier at Harborfront Park and the boat is not there, it just means we are out sailing.

Q: Where should I park?

A:

Check in begins 15 minutes prior to departure on the dock. If coming by car, we recommend arriving 30 minutes prior to departure to ensure that you get a space with plenty of time to walk down the dock to the check in location.

The closest parking option is directly behind Harborfront Park. After this is Danfords Marina and Hotel Parking, 100 Arden Place Parking and the Marina Parking.

See the map on our Contact page for a map.

Q: Can I bring food and drink?

A:

You're welcome to bring food to enjoy onboard, it is the perfect picnic environment. However all drinks much be purchased from our onboard bar.

Q: What should I wear?

A:

You're welcome to wear whatever makes you feel good! Just keep in mind we ask guests to help raise the sails and there can be the slightest lean to the boat if we catch a good breeze so heels may not be the best option.

Please also remember it is always about 5 - 10 degrees chillier on the water than on land so a light jacket is always recommended.

Q: What should I bring?

A:

Bring whatever you need for a two hour trip on the water, this could include a light jacket, snacks, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and/or comfortable shoes.

Q: Is the Liberty Clipper wheelchair accessible?

A:

Unfortunately not - due to operational constraints in boarding passengers we are not wheelchair accessible. To board the vessel guests must walk down a ramp and up 3 stairs to step onto the boat. Our crew are always there to board guests safely onto the boat and will make sure anyone with walkers, or those who need assistance are helped onboard.

Q: Are the Sunset Sails and Day Sails narrated?

A:

No - our regularly scheduled sails are not narrated, however the crew are more than happy to teach about sailing a traditional tall ship and what they know about the history of the surrounding area.

Q: How much do tickets cost?

A:

Our Day Sail tickets are $55 each plus tax for adults, and $35 each plus tax for kids.

The Sunset Sails are $69 per person with no discount for kids.

Q: How long are the sails?

A:

Our regular Day Sails and Sunset Sails are all 2 hour each.
